David Neal

David Neal is a senior attorney with the Southern Environmental Law Center (SELC), where he works on environmental justice and energy policy. Much of David’s work involves representing organizations like the North Carolina Justice Center, Sierra Club, Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, and Vote Solar in matters before the N.C. Utilities Commission. Prior to joining SELC, he had a career in criminal and capital defense work.
David currently serves on the North Carolina Energy Policy Task Force, a trustee of the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation, and is the immediate past chair of the board for Repairers of the Breach. Before law school, David was a Peace Corps volunteer in Turkmenistan. He completed his undergraduate degree at Oberlin and his law degree at UNC School of Law.
