Keynote Q&A | We Are Still Here: Climate Survival and the Gullah Geechee Nation
In this keynote, we’ll hear from Queen Quet Marquetta L. Goodwine, chieftess of the Gullah Geechee Nation about the lived experience of the Gullah Geechee and the disproportionate impacts of climate change and environmental harm on coastal, Indigenous, and descendant communities. Queen Quet will explore how rising seas, land loss, development pressures, and environmental injustice threaten culture, ancestry, and sovereignty while also highlighting centuries old resilience, stewardship, and solutions rooted in tradition, history and self-determination.
