Hayley Brezeale is a proud citizen of the Catawba Indian Nation, currently serving as the Nation’s Food Sovereignty Coordinator since 2021. With a strong focus on community health and sustainability, Hayley works to promote healthy food access and remove barriers for individuals interested in engaging in traditional lifestyle practices such as gardening, hunting, and fishing.
In addition to her role as a Food Sovereignty Coordinator, Hayley is a certified Diabetes Lifestyle Coach and has completed the South Carolina Master Gardeners Program. She has played an integral part in several impactful initiatives, including the planting of over 300 fruit trees and the distribution of more than 7,000 pounds of venison to her community. Hayley has also helped restore cultural agricultural practices by supporting the planting of ancestral corn on the Nation’s farmland. Through her efforts, she empowers the community to become more self-sustainable and embrace traditional food practices for healthier, more resilient futures.
