Rashawna Huntley graduated from Johnson C. Smith University in May of 2024 with a major in biology and minors in both sustainability and chemistry. Rashawna was born and raised in North Carolina, and has interest in studying the water quality of North Carolina’s surface waters. She was a student participant in JCSU’s Summer 2022 Sustainability Experiential Immersion program at JCSU during which time she blossomed as a student leader. Her senior investigative paper (SIP), guided by mentorship from Dr. Mark Dugo, explored water quality for Irwin Creek. Rashawna currently works as a technician for JCSU’s Center for Renewable Energy and Sustainability and will be attending UNCC in the fall of 2025 to work collaboratively on a collegiate water monitoring program for Irwin Creek in partnership with Charlotte Mecklenburg Stormwater Services, JCSU, and UNCC.
