Sarah Hazel is the City’s first Chief Sustainability and Resiliency officer and leads efforts to deliver on the mission to become a low carbon, sustainable city. A proud UNC Chapel Hill master’s in public administration grad, and with a background in environmental campaign work, Hazel was inspired to pursue a career in the public sector, based on the belief that government has the power to be transformational. Her team has implemented policies, programs and partnerships that have led Charlotte to be recognized as a leader in climate action. Hazel lives in Charlotte with her partner, two rambunctious kids, and rescue pup.
